Modern Daybreak, established in 2019, is an independent rock band that puts strange lyrical ideas over upbeat, accessible music. They have recorded their entire discography DIY style, keeping in true indie fashion. Justin and Matt have been writing songs together since 2017, and have experienced a number of setbacks and small victories. After awkwardly attempting to be a duo, their renaissance started with the addition of Mike and Arthur in the summer of 2023, just before their Music For Love EP was released. They worked hard the following year and released their first album Sound of Nothing in September of 2024. This album put them on a lyrical trend towards nature, depression, and the unloved. In 2025, Matt’s brother Jack joined the band and has been instrumental in helping shape the next Modern Daybreak album. Modern Daybreak songs pull inspiration from punk, jam band, blues, singer-songwriter, and pop. The songs always take precedence over any one band member’s ego, and the results put them in a rock genre all their own.
