Our collaboration with CHIBOYJIMMY all started with an Instagram comment: “Can I hop on remix?” We’ve been wanting to do some rap features for a while, so we seized the opportunity! We sent him our catalog of music and had him pick which one he vibed with most. He chose Truth Be Told. We sent him the tracks and what he sent back was jaw-dropping. No one could prepare you for Truth Be Told featuring CHIBOYJIMMY.

Kali Paylinn is a hip hop, rock, R&B, reggaeton artist and painter and also produces his own music. We met him while playing at an art fest in Wicker Park and we bonded over his art and horror films. Since then, Justin has joined him as a backing guitarist for a few of his showcases. Kali is a massive creative and energetic force and we’re so stoked he agreed to be a feature on Moth. Enjoy the new vibe he brings to the tune!

This live album was recorded and engineered entirely by the band with love on March 15th at Old Towne Hall in Crystal Lake. The show was part of Mikey’s great aunt Alice’s celebration of life. Through The White Noise: Modern Daybreak Live In Crystal Lake is now available for streaming! All our favorite bands have killer live albums, we couldn't be more excited to add our own live release to the catalog. Using Roland electronic drums for this show allowed Mikey to fully capture the drum tones and extra sound effects utilized on the "Sound of Nothing" album, as well as blatant electronic sounds on "Covered in Light". The older songs have a more polished sound and energy and we even improvised on a few tracks! Give it a spin, thanks for the support!

Plans tend to come undone. “Covered In Light” is a Modern Daybreak (formerly Chelusier) song re-examined. This song is about the blinding nature of love and how forever sometimes doesn't truly mean forever. Follow the links, or search on your favorite platforms.

Entry from Matt: Cicadas are very interesting little creatures. Ugly, disproportionate, profoundly clumsy, they live above ground just a few weeks at a time to simply scream and have sex. In Illinois, we hear their yelling late each summer, but every 17 years, the big broods come out. That’s what inspired this song.
17 years is both a long time and barely a blip. I was 15 the last time this brood emerged, and I will turn 32 in a couple weeks. That time seemed to flash by so quickly, I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. It’s scary, in a way. Time moves so quickly when you’re not paying attention, when you’re surviving instead of living. The cicadas reminded me to live, not just survive.
Join us in screaming the summer away, and freeing yourself from 17 years of trauma, emotional damage, and just plain ignorance. Let’s live.

Our dreams can be an insight into our overall health and wellness. Nightmares can indicate stress or illness. What does it mean when you have a recurring nightmare over and over? “Moth” is about being lost in your own mind, unable to move on, unable to cope. It’s the beginning of a bigger journey, and the first single off of our upcoming album, Sound of Nothing. We hope you enjoy it, just don’t stare at the red eyes too long.

“Wake up, you’re still at the wheel now.” Don’t forget that you are in control of your life and you are not controlled by your past. “Wake Up” is a breakup song disguised as a driving power pop jam. It has a theme very close to our song “Touch the Flame”, where we address tendencies to think about that which may hurt you.

Take a listen to our new single! We collaborated with our Grammy Nominated friend Dave Wolak to make a chill pop song. He approached us saying that he had a song in mind for us to collab on, and that we should get together and brainstorm. Uh, hell yes, we'd give it a shot! So Justin, Matt, and Dave sat together and within 30 minutes, Matt had written all the lyrics. As the lyrics poured out, Justin was already crafting the melody and the hook to the chorus. We fleshed it out for another half hour and then on another day, we went into the studio to record the vocals and whatnot. Easy peasy. Hope you enjoy!

What do we even say about this project? We've been planning this EP since pre-covid, and then the pandemic put everything to a grinding halt. A few years passed, fate stepped in and gave us new opportunities to work with some new musicians on this project. The result of our hard work and passion is a collection of songs that reflect our values of love and growth. Finally releasing this music is honestly so cathartic and we are beyond happy with the quality of these tracks. Please enjoy and share if you love it! Click the links to listen to Music For Love:
